Astros spanked by Phillies at Citizens Bank Park

The Philadelphia Phillies annihilated the Houston Astros yesterday at Citizens Bank Park with the Phillies victorious 10 to 3. It was a huge win that rooters with Phillies tickets aren’t likely to forget. You never know what you’ll see at a baseball game so get your cheap tickets today!

Phillies pitcher Kyle Kendrick (2.66 ERA) got the win, while Brian Moehler (5.47 ERA) took the loss for the Astros. Pedro Martinez went 4 innings for the Phillies, allowed 6 hits, 2 home runs and 3 earned runs with one walk and 2 strikeouts. Also pitching for the Phillies was Chad Durbin (4.52), Scott Eyre (1.57), and Brad Lidge (7.34). The Astros’s starter Brian Moehler went 4.1 innings, allowed 6 hits, no home runs and 7 earned runs with 3 walks and one strikeout. Wesley Wright (5.88), Sammy Gervacio (2.29), Tim Byrdak (3.32), and Jose Valverde (2.04) also pitched for the Astros. With the win, Kendrick’s record goes to 3-1, while Moehler drops to 8-12.

In addition to the 10 runs, the Phillies put up 9 hits and committed one error. It wasn’t a huge day for anyone at the plate for the Phillies, as nobody managed more than 2 hits. The Astros didn’t have anyone with a big night with not one batter getting more than 2 hits. Geoff Blum could not get much going at the plate as he left 6 runners on base. The Astros mustered 3 runs, 8 hits and one error.

Umpiring duties were performed by Jeff Nelson, Bob Davidson, Tim Tschida and Mark Carlson. There were 45,207 Phillies ticket holders in attendance at Citizens Bank Park.

The win puts the Phillies at a record of 92-66, still leading their division, while the loss brings the Astros to 73-85, (17 games behind first place in the division). The Astros will try to get a game back from the Phillies tomorrow. There are still plenty of tickets available so take a look.
