Astros fall to Phillies 7-4

The Philadelphia Phillies faced off against the Houston Astros yesterday at Citizens Bank Park with the Phillies securing the victory 7 to 4. It was a great baseball game that fans with Phillies tickets will remember for quite some time.

Phillies pitcher J.A. Happ (2.85 ERA) got the win, while Wilton Lopez (9.42 ERA) took the loss for the Astros. J.A. Happ went 5.2 innings for the Phillies, allowed 9 hits, 2 home runs and 3 earned runs with one walk and 6 strikeouts. Also pitching for the Phillies was Jamie Moyer (4.94). The Astros’s starter Wilton Lopez went 3.2 innings, allowed 6 hits, one home run and 5 earned runs with 2 walks and 2 strikeouts. Wesley Wright (5.98), Chad Paronto (12.15), Jeff Fulchino (3.38), and Sammy Gervacio (1.93) also pitched for the Astros. With the win, Happ’s record goes to 12-4, while Lopez drops to 0-1. Ryan Madson earned the save for the Phillies, bringing his saves up to 10.

Pedro Feliz provided much of the offense for the Phillies with an incredible 4 runs batted in. In addition to the 7 runs, the Phillies put up 8 hits and committed one error. It wasn’t a huge day for anyone at the plate for the Phillies, as nobody managed more than 2 hits. The Astros didn’t have anyone with a big night with not one batter getting more than 2 hits. Wilton Lopez could not get much going at the plate as he left 5 runners on base. The Astros got 4 runs, 11 hits and no errors.

Umpiring duties were performed by Mark Carlson, Jeff Nelson, Bob Davidson and Tim Tschida. There were 45,082 Phillies ticket holders in attendance at Citizens Bank Park.

The win puts the Phillies at a record of 91-66, still leading their division, while the loss brings the Astros to 73-84, (17 games behind first place in the division). The Astros will try to return the favor tomorrow. There are still plenty of tickets available so take a look.
