Astros Beat Phillies 8-2

The Houston Astros did battle with the the Philadelphia Phillies yesterday at Citizens Bank Park with the Astros picking up the W 8 to 2. It was one heck of a game that folks with Astros tickets aren’t likely to forget. Baseball isn’t the only game in town. See what other cheap sports tickets are out there.

Astros pitcher Yorman Bazardo (8.23 ERA) got the win, while Cole Hamels (4.25 ERA) took the loss for the Phillies. Yorman Bazardo went 5.2 innings for the Astros, allowed 2 hits, no home runs and 2 earned runs with 4 walks and 4 strikeouts. Also pitching for the Astros was Sammy Gervacio (2.04), Tim Byrdak (3.07), and Doug Brocail (2.70). The Phillies’s starter Cole Hamels went 6.2 innings, allowed 9 hits, no home runs and 6 earned runs with 3 walks and 5 strikeouts. Tyler Walker (3.34), Clay Condrey (3.10), J.C. Romero (2.70), and Brad Lidge (7.38) also pitched for the Phillies. With the win, Bazardo’s record goes to 1-2, while Hamels is at 10-10.

In addition to the 8 runs, the Astros scored 15 hits and committed one error. Miguel Tejada led the Astros in hitting with 4 hits, followed by Jeff Keppinger’s 3 hits, and Hunter Pence with 2. Carlos Lee had a tough day at the plate, leaving 4 runners on base. The Phillies didn’t have anyone with a big night with not one batter getting more than 2 hits. The Phillies managed 2 runs, 4 hits and no errors.

Umpiring duties were performed by Tim Tschida, Mark Carlson, Jeff Nelson and Bob Davidson. There were 45,146 Phillies ticket holders in attendance at Citizens Bank Park.

The win puts the Astros at a record of 73-83, (17 games behind first place in the division), while the loss brings the Phillies to 90-66, still leading their division. The Phillies will try to get a game back from the Astros tomorrow. There are still plenty of tickets available so take a look.
